Islamabad, Aug 27: According to the Meteorological Department, a deep depression is presently over northern Gujarat, India, and is expected to travel over the next 24 hours towards the neighboring parts of Pakistan, notably Eastern Sindh.

Strong monsoon currents are being driven by this weather system, which is especially hitting the south. Furthermore, starting on August 29th, a westerly wave is predicted to affect the country’s top regions.

Sindh: From August 27 to August 31, there was widespread rain, along with thunderstorms and significant rainfall in the following places: Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Matiari, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Nausheroferoze.

In Balochistan: Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Awaran, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Jaffarabad, Kohlu, Harnai, Dera Bugti, Zhob, Quetta, Ziarat, Sherani, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Loralai, Mastung, Bolan, Jhal Magsi, Kech, Panjgur, Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, and Ormara are expected to experience widespread rain and sporadic heavyfalls during the same period.

Punjab/Islamabad: From August 27 to August 31, rain with sporadic heavy rainfall is expected in the following locations: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, and Rahimyar Khan.

Kashmir: From August 27 to August 31, rain with sporadic downpours is predicted in the Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: From August 27th to August 31st, rain with sporadic heavyfalls is predicted in the following areas: Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, dera Ismail Khan.

Gilgit-Baltistan: From August 27 to August 31, rain is predicted in Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar, with sporadic heavyfalls.

Possible Repercussions and Warnings:

floods: In low-lying parts of Sindh, Balochistan, and south/central Punjab, there may be pluvial floods and inundation.Torrential rainfall in the areas of Dera Ghazi Khan, Dadu, Kalat, Khuzdar, Jaffarabad, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Loralai, Awaran, Panjgur, Washuk, Mastung, and Lasbella may cause flash floods in local streams and hill torrents.

Glacier Lake Outburst Flood: In areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan that are vulnerable, there is a significant chance of Glacier Lake Outburst Floods.

Urban Flooding:
From August 27 through August 31, there is a chance of heavy downpours causing urban flooding in low-lying parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Nowshera, and Peshawar.
