Islamabad, Aug 9: On the same day that Rashid Langrial took over as chairman of the tax office, the federal government awarded member of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for customs operations Ashhad Jawwad a six-month leave of absence, expressing possible dissatisfaction with the chairman’s selection.
According to the announcement, Ashhad Jawwad, a PCS/BS-21 officer currently employed by the Federal Board of Revenue in Islamabad as a Member (Customs-Operations), is entitled to 100 days of leave under Rule 5 and Rule 6 of the Revised Leave Rules, 1980, starting on August 15, 2024.
|According to sources, the FBR officers are not happy about a junior DMG executive being appointed Chairman FBR. According to further sources, Rashid Langrial reports to about 25 to 30 top officers of Pakistan Customs and Inland Revenue Service.
On Thursday, the Inland Revenue Association convened a meeting to deliberate on the nomination of subordinate officers to serve as FBR chairman. But the association waited until late at night to make a statement. According to sources, there will be a significant reorganization at FBR either tomorrow or the following week as the new chairman assigns executives to key positions that are both close to and beneath him.
