ISLAMABAD, JULY17: Pakistani fans remembered legendary comedian Albela on the occasion of his 20th death anniversary on Wednesday.Born on Sept 21, 1940, in Gojra, Toba Tek Singh, Albela’s real name was Akhtar Hussain. Starting his career with theater plays, he made a powerful pair with another legend Amanullah and ruled the theater for over a decade. Both Albela and Amanullah were considered pioneers of Punjabi theater.Albela had a long film, TV and theater career as a comedian. His first film ‘Rishtay’ was released in 1963.

Albela featured in many movies including Wardatia Badnam, Yaar Maar, Ishq Nachawe Gali Gali, Allah Ditta, Siren, Hero, International Luttairey, Majhoo, Abdullah the Great and Khandan.He also performed in television plays in his career spanning over 50 years.He received the Nigar Award in 1990 for his contribution to films.Albela died in Lahore on July 17, 2004.
