ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 2: On Thursday, two restaurants and a movie theater in Jinnah Park were found to have dengue mosquito larvae, according to the Rawalpindi district administration. They fined the companies Rs. 400,000 and gave them a week to put anti-dengue SOPs in place.

When the movie at Cinepax unexpectedly halted and the theater announced it was under a tax authority raid, the audience was caught off guard. The movie theater administration told the patrons to leave and that refunds for tickets will be handled on Friday, August 2.

One of the people who attended to see “The Glassworker” claims that the administration cut the film in the middle. The management of the movie theater requested that everyone leave the auditorium right away, he said.

“Everyone was shocked, but the administration told the audience later that the tax department had sealed the hall,” he said.
The food outlets were neither deserted nor sealed, according to visitors, however the movie theater was sealed and then subsequently unsealed.

Remarkably, a senior Excise and Taxation Department official said that no team had visited Jinnah Park or the neighborhood on Thursday and that any closing of commercial establishments would have happened only after giving notice.

As part of its anti-dengue program, Assistant Commissioner Almas Sabeeh verified that the district administration team inspected Jinnah Park, which includes Cinepax, Pappasallis, and KFC.
