Islamabad, Sep 2: During a high-level discussion on Monday, Denmark reaffirmed its commitment to upgrading and investing in Pakistan’s mining sector. According to a news release, during a meeting with Federal Ministers Dr. Musadik Malik, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, and Jam Kamal Khan, a delegation from FL Smidth led by CEO Mikko Keto expressed interest. The delegation also included Chris Reinbold, president of Mining Products, and Iqrar Hussain, global key account project manager.

Jakob Linulf, the Danish ambassador to Pakistan, was also present. For more than thirty years, FL Smidth, a top worldwide provider of services and technology to the cement and mining sectors, has maintained a presence in Pakistan, with supplies to between 60 and 70 percent of Pakistan’s cement factories, the firm has been instrumental in the growth of the nation’s cement industry.

In order to better serve cement plants all throughout the nation, FL Smidth extended its operations in 2017 and opened an after-sales service office in Islamabad. To do this, the company hired local workers. The business is currently trying to apply its knowledge to the mining industry in Pakistan.

Dr. Musadik Malik, the federal minister of petroleum, greeted the Danish group and emphasized the government’s emphasis on the mining industry. He noted that in addition to financial support, the collaboration with FL Smidth will involve technology transfer, training, capacity building, and the introduction of fresh perspectives.

He also discussed the government’s plan to boost competitiveness by creating small industrial clusters. Pakistan is high on Denmark’s agenda, according to Danish Ambassador Jakob Linulf, and there is growing enthusiasm for cooperation.He mentioned the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic ties between Denmark and Pakistan, and he conveyed Denmark’s desire to take the relationship in the mining sector to new heights.

On a two-day visit to Pakistan, CEO Mikko Keto thanked everyone for their cordial welcome and mentioned FL Smidth’s desire in growing into the country’s mining industry.He stated that the corporation, bringing decades of knowledge to the table, intends to repeat its successful mining agreements with other nations in Pakistan.

In order to investigate fresh prospects, he further stated that FL Smidth would establish connections with other mining firms in Pakistan, with an emphasis on student programs, training, and research. Chris Reinbold, FL Smidth’s President of Mining Products, highlighted the company’s student training and research programs and expressed interest in creating projects of a similar nature for students in Pakistan.Senior representatives from Pakistan attended the meeting as well, including DG Minerals Dr. Nawaz, Additional Secretary Hasan Yousafzai, and Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha. Everyone was upbeat about the possibility of Denmark and Pakistan working together in the mining industry.
