Islamabad, Sep 18: The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s instructions have resulted in the clearance of the backlog of passport issue throughout Pakistan, according to the Passport and Immigration Directorate.

Major cities have caught up with the delayed applications, according to officials. While 83,000 petitions were completed in Karachi, over 14,600 pending cases in Islamabad were resolved.30,800 passports were processed at the Garden Town office in Lahore; 4,800 of those cases were cleared in Raiwind, and another 11,400 in Shadman. Significant advancements were also made in other cities, including as Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, which cleared 7,200, 18,400, and 23,100 cases, respectively.

The Directorate also disclosed that 15,800 passports were provided directly to recipients’ residences, and 5,650 applicants received urgent passport deliveries. Pakistanis living abroad were relieved that an additional 17,900 regular and 41,700 urgent passport applications were processed by embassies.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the director general of passports, verified that staff have been working nonstop to ensure seamless processing, and that the backlog has been completely resolved in important cities.

To sustain the effectiveness of passport issue, the next step is to expand the endeavor to the remaining regions of the nation. This move comes in response to widespread complaints about passport processing delays that have seriously inconvenienced residents across the country.
