Islamabad, Nov 12: ECC Approves PKR 50 Billion for Sindh’s Flood-Relief Housing Project. The Federal Government has sanctioned PKR 50 billion for an emergency housing initiative in Sindh aimed at helping communities affected by recent flooding.
According to the details, this funding decision was reached during a recent meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and is part of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), exceeding the initial PKR 30 billion suggested by the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives for the fiscal year 2024-25.
The housing project, which received the green light from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in June, is projected to have a total cost of PKR 296 billion. ECNEC has proposed a phased funding approach, allocating PKR 30 billion for the present fiscal year and an additional PKR 20 billion for 2025-26.
The PKR 30 billion earmarked for 2024-25 is already included under Demand No. 120 in the development budget of the Ministry of Planning and is prepared for disbursement. Following the ECC’s approval, the Finance Division is now empowered to release these funds to the Sindh government, facilitating immediate flood relief while also supporting other provincial projects backed by PSDP.
