ISLAMABAD, April 08: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met today with Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), to discuss avenues for enhancing regional economic integration and collaboration.

The meeting, held at the Finance Division, focused on deepening ECO’s role in fostering trade, commerce, and tourism among its 10 member states.

Dr. Khan provided an overview of ECO’s strategic priorities and recent initiatives, emphasizing the growing importance of regional trade corridors and market connectivity.

“Stronger regional linkages are key to economic resilience and prosperity across ECO countries,” Dr. Khan noted, outlining the organization’s efforts to advance trade and tourism through active engagement with member nations.

Senator Aurangzeb welcomed the ECO’s progress and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for its initiatives. He underscored the Ministry of Finance’s commitment to regular participation in ECO-led initiatives, particularly those targeting regional trade facilitation and connectivity.

“Pakistan remains committed to building a more integrated and cooperative regional economic ecosystem,” the Minister stated.

Both leaders agreed on the urgency of leveraging ECO’s platform to drive sustainable economic growth, shared development, and people-to-people ties in the region.

The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to maintain close coordination in pursuit of ECO’s strategic goals.
