Islamabad, Sep 22: In a surprising development, Elon Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), has gone offline in Brazil once again after being fined for defying a government-imposed ban.
The shutdown follows Musk’s refusal to comply with local regulations aimed at curbing the spread of misinformation. Brazilian authorities had previously issued a fine to X for non-compliance with these rules, and the situation intensified when the fine went unpaid.
This is the second time in recent months that X has been suspended in Brazil for regulatory defiance, sparking concerns about the platform’s long-term viability in the country.
The ongoing conflict highlights the tension between global tech platforms and local governance as authorities seek to enforce stricter controls on online content.
