ISLAMABAD: Ethiopia and Pakistan on Thursday to collaborate in various education sectors, including science and technology, agriculture, health, information and communication. The both parties reach this consensus during a meeting between the special envoy and the extraordinary ambassador and plenipotentiary Jemal Beker Abdula and the president of the Higher Education Commission,the Dr.Mukhtar Ahmed.
The meeting discussed the modalities aimed at making mutual cooperation in the education sector for the purpose of knowledge, skills and expertise. Ambassador Jemal Beker said said that the Ethiopian government will strengthen the already thriving bilateral relations between the two through educational diplomacy. Collaboration in the education sector can be to establish lasting and lasting relationships between countries, he said while recalling the eagerness of Ethiopian medical experts.   He said that a delegation from a premier university in Ethiopia had visited Pakistan in 2023,which shows that there is a strong appetite in Ethiopia for collaboration of institution to institution between the two countries. The ambassador briefed the chairman of the HEC on the plantation campaign run by the Ethiopian Embassy under the Green Legacy Initiative of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, which aims at promoting brotherhood between the two great countries. The campaign is being coordinated with the Ministry of Climate Change, universities, civil society, and business community throughout Pakistan.

The ambassador was briefed by the HEC chairman on the progress and digitalization in the education sector, which included the establishment of digital libraries and smart classrooms that enabled millions of students in Pakistan and outside to access education. He gave the ambassador his word that Ethiopia and Pakistan would continue to work together more closely in the field of education.   In order to foster future cooperation in the field of education, the HEC chairman also invited the ambassador to visit the HEC Headquarters and asked that delegation exchanges be facilitated between the two nations. He said, “Let us support one another in the education sector to jointly build strong nations for global prosperity.”
He told the ambassador that HEC’s Global Engagement Department was opening, and that it will have a desk dedicated to Africa, with a focus on Ethiopia in particular.
