Fakhar Zaman exudes confidence ahead of Pakistan’s second T20I against England emphasizing the team’s belief in their ability to conquer any opponent.
As part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Fakhar asserts that with a focused mindset and clarity in roles, they are primed to excel on the global stage.
At a news conference Fakhar said, Everything is set for the World Cup people say a lot of things on the media. Every player including me is aware of his position. We have the strength to defeat everyone on the planet.
As a team we know that we must play attacking cricket and that we will only be competitive if we adopt this mentality [to win the World Cup]. In any match where we bat first we know that we must score 200 runs or more.
Fakhar Zaman reiterated his dedication to the team’s triumph pledging to maintain an aggressive playing style regardless of his individual score. He highlighted the team’s adaptability mentioning strategic tweaks after the loss to Ireland.
My aim is to play aggressively whether I make 10 or 50 runs, it must aid the team. Watch in the World Cup how our mindset has evolved,” he affirmed.
Following the loss to Ireland in the first T20I Fakhar Zaman revealed that the team convened to devise a fresh strategy, recognizing the significance of facing a formidable England side before the World Cup. Addressing allegations of nepotism against wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan Fakhar staunchly defended his colleague.
The son of former Pakistani wicketkeeper Moin Khan Azam has been accused of nepotism which Fakhar denied and advised the writer to look into the matter more before criticizing Azam’s path.
“I can also state that you came here on a suggestion, but it would be beneficial to witness the progress and hardships that a player has endured. I think you should also come after doing some preliminary study,” Fakhar said to the reporter.
