Islamabad, Oct 1: FBR extends income tax returns Filing date by 14 days, moving the due date from September 30 to October 14.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and the official notification has been issued.
During the meeting, the chairman was briefed on tax collection for September, revealing that Rs. 1106 billion had been collected, surpassing the target of Rs. 1098 billion.
So far, around 2.9 million taxpayers have filed FBR Extends Income Tax Returns, a significant increase from 1.4 million returns filed by the same date last year.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) had called for a 30-day extension, citing technical difficulties with the FBR’s tax filing system.
FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh highlighted that the system’s inefficiencies are causing delays and need to be addressed.
Despite this, over 844,000 new taxpayers have been added since July 1, 2023, and extending the deadline could increase the total number of return filers to seven million.
Earlier in the day, FBR refuted the news regarding extension in the last date for filing of income tax returns and urged all eligible taxpayers to file their income tax returns before the deadline to avoid punitive actions.
