Islamabad, Dec 14: In addition to holding monthly coordination meetings to address concerns experienced by Faisalabad air travelers, the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) will raise awareness among relevant departments to begin operating large aircraft from Faisalabad International Airport.
Rehan Naseem Bharara, President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), told a meeting of the FCCI Standing Committee on International Tourism that PIA had a history of excellence and was regarded as one of the world’s first airlines. According to him, PIA and FCCI need to work together to bring back the national flag carrier’s former glory.
He gave special thanks to former FCCI President Mian Javed Iqbal, who was instrumental in establishing direct international flights from Faisalabad. With a total of 17 aircraft in service, PIA is in charge of three domestic flights in addition to international flights to Jeddah, Medinah, Dubai, and Muscat, according to Shahid Hussain, District Manager.
When there were two daily flights from Faisalabad to Karachi, he said that 70% of international passengers took this route. He claimed that because people prefer to attend crucial meetings via Zoom, mobile technology has also had a detrimental effect on frequent travel.
Convenor of the Standing Committee Nadeem Iqbal greeted the attendees and stated that the three weekly flights currently have a respectable passenger load. He praised PIA and FCCI’s collaboration and stated that it should go on in the future to help the business community even more.
Irfan Mehmood, Sajid Maqbool, Shahid Habib, M. Shahid, Muhammad Jameel Kasana, Madam Hijra Tabassum, and Hamid Jilani were also present during the meeting. District Manager PIA Shahid Hussain later received an FCCI shield from President Rehan Naseem Bharara.
