Islamabad, Jan 10: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated an investigation into the creation and dissemination of AI-generated images and videos involving Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.These manipulated visuals began circulating on social media following the UAE President’s visit to Pakistan, where he was welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and greeted by Maryam Nawaz.

FIA’s Investigation into AI-Generated Content

The FIA’s Cybercrime Wing has identified ten social media accounts responsible for spreading these fabricated visuals.The agency is actively working to trace the origins of this content and hold the responsible individuals accountable.

Fabricated UAE Embassy Letter                     

In addition to the AI-generated content, a fake letter purportedly from the UAE Embassy surfaced on social media.This fabricated document urged the Pakistani government to address the alleged propaganda targeting the UAE President and his meeting with the Punjab Chief Minister.

FIA’s Commitment to Combating Misinformation

The FIA has emphasized its dedication to identifying and prosecuting those responsible for creating and disseminating misinformation and defamatory content. The agency’s efforts aim to uphold the integrity of public figures and maintain the credibility of information shared on social media platforms.

This investigation underscores the growing concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence in creating deceptive content and highlights the importance of vigilance in the digital age.
