Islamabad, Dec 29: Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, has praised the government’s groundbreaking initiative to recognize the significant contributions of women, transgender individuals, and persons with disabilities through the prestigious “Dignity Award.” In an exclusive interview with PTV, she lauded the award for breaking barriers and honoring the unsung heroes from marginalized communities.
Alam highlighted the courage and resilience of these individuals, emphasizing that the government is taking concrete steps to formally recognize their achievements. She specifically noted the importance of acknowledging the transgender community, who have long been neglected by society, and the government’s commitment to providing opportunities for them to thrive.
She expressed optimism that such recognition will empower transgender individuals, fostering a sense of pride, self-worth, and confidence that will encourage them to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to society. Alam further stressed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the PML-N party’s vision, there is a strong commitment to providing equal platforms and opportunities for marginalized communities, which is reflected in the party’s manifesto.
