Islamabad, Dec 23: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah conducted an unscheduled morning inspection of the Malir Expressway, specifically the nine-kilometer stretch between Jam Sadiq Bridge and Shah Faisal Interchange. The CM traveled without protocol, underlining the urgency of completing the project by December 30 for it to be operational for traffic.
During his visit, CM Shah engaged with key officials, including the Karachi Commissioner, DIG Police, and DMC representatives. He issued a stern warning about the encroachments along the expressway and stressed the importance of clearing them. “The project must be completed by the end of December,” he directed Engineer Khalid Mansoor, urging faster construction to meet the deadline.
Additionally, CM Shah emphasized the need to eliminate illegal structures and parking, especially from the Shah Faisal Interchange to Karachi Airport, to ensure smooth traffic flow. He highlighted that once operational, the expressway would significantly cut down travel time, reducing the commute from Jam Sadiq Bridge to Jinnah Terminal via Shah Faisal Interchange to just 15 minutes.
Reaffirming his commitment to improving Karachi’s infrastructure, the CM stressed the vital role of the Malir Expressway in easing travel for residents and enhancing the city’s connectivity. With the deadline fast approaching, efforts are being ramped up to ensure the project’s timely completion.
