ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 8: Flood warnings have been issued by the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) as the region continues to experience severe rainfall. Over the previous 24 hours, large amounts of rain have been reported in several districts. River, dam, and stream levels have risen as a result of the nonstop rain.
The Punjab and Sindh Administration (PDMA) reports that different districts have received different amounts of rainfall. For example, Rawalpindi recorded 88mm, Gujranwala and Bahawalnagar had 17mm each, and Kasur and Sheikhupura recorded 11mm each.
Rivers, dams, and streams are among the water features that are expanding as a result of the increased rainfall.
A PDMA official has issued an alarm regarding the rising water levels in the Indus River, indicating that there could be a moderate flood situation in the upcoming days. In Rajanpur, the rains have already brought about dire circumstances.
Additionally, the PDMA has issued a flood warning for Rajanpur’s Indus River, encouraging locals to move their cattle to safer regions. Rescue 1122 has been told to be watchful in the impacted areas, and the district administration has been told to keep all pertinent agencies on high alert.
Because to continuous mining operations, there is also a chance of flooding in the Indus River in Rojhan. Flood warnings issued by the PDMA highlight the critical need to take precautions and get ready as the monsoon season approaches.
The PDMA has also sent warnings regarding possible flooding in rivers that are related to the Chenab and Ravi rivers. The local administration in Sialkot has been instructed to remain on high alert by the DG PDMA due to reports of high flood levels in Nullah Aik. It is anticipated that the monsoon rains would last until August 14.
