Islamabad, Aug 23: Since 2019, Pakistan has begun importing goods from India despite tense ties with its eastern neighbor.
Pakistan brought in $1.62 billion worth of goods.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office asserted that economic and bilateral relations with India had stagnated and restated that there had not been any progress in talks between the two nations or a return to normalcy since 2019.
In contrast, over the previous five years, Pakistan imported goods valued at $1.62 billion.
Documents show that $38 million in imports came from India year 2019–20.
In 2020–21, the number of imports was $32.7 million; in 2021–22, it was $35.2 million.
Documents show that Pakistan bought goods worth $27.8 million in 2022–2023 and $27.6 million in the most recent fiscal year from India.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Trade stated that India was the source of raw materials being imported for life-saving medications.
