The Saudi government has issued a warning about the extreme temperatures expected during the upcoming Hajj season next month in Saudi Arabia. According to the head of the Saudi National Centre of Meteorology, the period from June 24 to 29, corresponding with this year’s Hajj season, will experience the highest temperatures of the year.
Addressing the necessity of coordinating with relevant agencies and informing them about weather forecasts at the holy sites, Ghulam emphasized the importance of taking precautions during the 2024 pilgrimage.
The anticipated scorching temperatures present a significant health risk for the millions of Muslims set to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah. Saudi authorities are gearing up for potentially record-breaking attendance following a surge in Umrah pilgrims during Ramadan. Pre-Hajj flight operations have been ongoing since May 9, with Pakistani pilgrims arriving in Madinah.
As of Tuesday, a total of 28,743 Pakistani pilgrims have arrived in Madinah via 120 flights, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This year, approximately 2.5 million faithful from around the world, including 179,210 from Pakistan, are expected to fulfill the religious obligation of Hajj.
The pilgrimage is scheduled to occur from June 14 to 19 this year.
