Islamabad, Oct 8: Foreign Secretary Amna Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Strengthen Trade and Investment Relations with Africa. Ambassador Amna Baloch, Pakistan’s foreign secretary, reiterated on Tuesday Pakistan’s desire to expand its collaboration with Africa in a number of areas, particularly high-level political relations, commerce, and investment.
The foreign secretary, who received 14 envoys from the African continent at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the volume of trade had expanded 75% in the last four years with significant possibility for further expansion, according to a Foreign Ministry’s news statement.
She discussed the expanding trajectory of relations between Pakistan and Africa and acknowledged the important work done by the African envoys stationed in Islamabad.The combined call on the foreign secretary by the African envoys highlights the foreign ministry’s desire to further deepen ties with Africa in keeping with the Government’s Engage Africa Policy.
Pakistan maintains 19 diplomatic outposts around the continent, with 14 of those located in Islamabad serving Africa. A unique tree planting ceremony with the theme of friendship between Pakistan and Africa was held on this occasion. The envoys made a combined call to the foreign secretary after the plantation on the ministry’s lawn, during which they discussed the key elements of bilateral relations and their priorities.
Mohammad Karmoune, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, thanked the foreign secretary for the chance to hold these conversations and conveyed appreciation for the unprecedented plantation event.
