Islamabad, Feb 4: Gaddafi Stadium has recently undergone a major transformation in preparation for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with significant upgrades that not only enhance the stadium’s facilities but also honor Pakistan’s founding figures. In a symbolic move, the stadium’s two ends have been renamed to reflect the legacy of two of the country’s most revered leaders.

The Pavilion End will now be known as the Jinnah End, while the Far End will be renamed the Iqbal End. This renaming is a tribute to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and Allama Iqbal, the philosopher-poet who inspired the nation.

These changes are part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) broader efforts to renovate and modernize Gaddafi Stadium in line with international standards for the ICC Champions Trophy. Among the notable improvements is a new Pavilion Building that features state-of-the-art facilities for players, match officials, and VIP guests, meeting the highest expectations of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Additionally, the spectator experience has been greatly enhanced. The enclosures have been repositioned 20 feet closer to the field, offering fans a more intimate and thrilling view of the action. As a result, the stadium’s capacity has been expanded from 21,500 to over 34,000, accommodating a larger crowd.

Furthermore, Gaddafi Stadium has embraced modern technology, with the installation of new replay screens and LED floodlights, as well as the construction of a dedicated head office for the PCB. These upgrades ensure that the venue is ready to host international teams and fans, providing an unforgettable experience for all.

Despite these significant renovations, the PCB has confirmed that the names of the stadium’s enclosures will remain unchanged, dismissing any rumors of further alterations. As the ICC Champions Trophy draws near, the revitalized Gaddafi Stadium, with its blend of modern infrastructure and homage to Pakistan’s founding figures, is set to become a source of pride for both players and fans, offering an exceptional venue for global cricketing events.
