Islamabad, Dec 22: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its crackdown on gas theft across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, taking strong action against illegal connections. In recent operations, SNGPL disconnected 173 illegal gas connections and imposed fines totaling Rs 2 million.
In Lahore, the team disconnected 20 illegal gas connections and an additional 4 connections using gas compressors, imposing fines of Rs 0.66 million. Faisalabad saw 4 illegal connections severed, with fines amounting to Rs 0.06 million. The Sheikhupura team disconnected 5 illegal connections, issuing fines worth Rs 1.1 million.
In Multan, 14 connections were disconnected for illegal gas usage, while in Bahawalpur, another 14 were cut off due to the use of gas compressors. Sahiwal witnessed 1 illegal connection being severed, with fines of Rs 0.25 million imposed.
The most notable action occurred in Karak, where 111 illegal gas connections were disconnected, marking a significant step in SNGPL’s ongoing efforts to combat gas theft. SNGPL continues its commitment to curbing gas theft, ensuring the fair and efficient distribution of gas to legitimate consumers across the regions.
