August of this year will see Google reveal its upcoming Pixel hardware lineup sooner than usual. It is rumored that the next Pixel Fold, anticipated to be named the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, will accompany the standard Pixel 9 candy bar phone range.
Android Authority’s tech analyst Mishaal Rahman found clues in the Android 14 QPR2 code that point to a better split-screen functionality for the future foldable Pixel phone. This suggests that even when holding the phone upright (portrait mode), users may eventually be able to operate apps side by side.
This is significant because one of the main issues with the original Pixel Fold was its lack of this capability. The possibility of a redesigned split-screen mode could be a game-changer for people thinking about the next Pixel foldable, even though other enhancements might be disclosed later. Rahman also found indications in the code of a new screen resolution, indicating additional improvements to the display.
