Islamabad, Sep 2: The Punjab government on Monday provided significant relief for those seeking motorcycle licenses in the province.
Motorcyclists would no longer have to wait for a learner’s permit in order to receive a license, according to CTO Lahore Amara Athar.
She announced that there is no longer a 42-day waiting time to obtain a limited-duration motorcycle license. In addition to receiving their learner’s permit, citizens can now take the driving exam and receive a license.
The purpose of offering this service is to encourage law-abiding citizens and save important time. CTO Lahore further stated that driving without a license will incur a Rs 2,000 charge.
It is now possible for citizens to get a motorcycle license for one, two, or five years. Additionally, cash handling has been discontinued at centers. All that citizens need to bring is their CNIC in order to apply for a license.
To further ensure transparency, audio and video records of the processes involved in obtaining a driver’s license are now required.
It is noteworthy that 9,956 motorcycle riders were fined by the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) for failing to wear helmets as part of an increased enforcement of traffic laws.
The campaign to stop riders without helmets is a part of a larger effort to improve road safety because head injuries continue to be the primary cause of death in motorcycle accidents. It is commonly acknowledged that wearing a helmet lowers the chance of suffering fatal injuries in auto accidents.
PHP inspected 209,353 vehicles around the Multan region in August. 73,410 automobiles received challans for various traffic offenses as a result of these checks.
