Islamabad, Aug 22: Authorities in Islamabad have closed off the Red Zone in reaction to the rising political unrest in the nation’s capital.

The zone, which is home to important government buildings and foreign embassies, is closed late at night as part of increased security meant to preserve public calm.

The Ministry of Interior declared via a tweet that all of Islamabad’s educational institutions, both private and public, will be closed today, August 22.

The decision was taken in view of the tumultuous circumstances that are now present in the metropolis, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.

The Interior Ministry’s tweet emphasized that the closures are meant to safeguard students during this uncertain time, saying, “The safety and security of students are our utmost priority.”
Authorities are asking the public to stay informed through official means and to avoid making needless travel plans as the situation remains tight.
