Islamabad, Dec 17: The government has officially notified the formation of a high-level committee chaired by Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The committee is tasked with monitoring and reporting sugar stocks to ensure timely decisions regarding sugar exports and address market concer
Analyze Data: The committee will assess sugar production, consumption, and stock data to identify discrepancies and gaps in the system. Develop Framework: It is tasked with proposing a robust framework that ensures evidence-based decision-making, which will help regulate exports and stabilize the market.
Timely Findings: The committee is expected to submit its findings within two weeks, enabling the government to make informed policy decisions to protect consumer interests and promote economic efficiency.
The committee includes federal ministers, senior government officials, and economic experts, such as Dr. Abid Qayium Suleri, Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). Dr. Suleri, known for his expertise in sustainable development and economic policy, adds significant value to the committee’s efforts.
This initiative is aimed at addressing challenges related to sugar supply and market fluctuations, ensuring fair pricing and enhancing the efficiency of the sugar industry in the country.
