At a recent meeting presided over by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the sale Advisory Committee decided to interact with the CEOs of the telecom firms prior to the sale of 5G spectrum. Reviewing the status of the impending 5G spectrum auction was the main goal of yesterday’s meeting. The committee was advised by representatives of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) that the deadline for EOI submissions is July 15.

The PTA is using the new e-system created by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) for the first time during this auction cycle. The goal of the World Bank-assisted E-PADS system is to guarantee an open application and bidding procedure.

PTA officials stressed that no firm would be permitted to post EOIs beyond the 12 p.m. deadline on July 15, according to sources who spoke with Bloom Pakistani. Following the deadline, the PTA will download and examine the applications that have been submitted. The PTA will use the same computerized mechanism to request technical and financial bids from qualified businesses after this examination.

The PTA projects that it will take around two months to evaluate these financial and technical offers. The Auction Advisory Committee has instructed that the entire procedure be carried out within the set timeframe, expressing satisfaction with the suggested dates and the PTA’s respect to these requirements.
The committee also wanted to know how the telecom sector felt about the 5G auction. All telecom carriers have indicated interest in taking part, according to Ministry of IT officials.
