Islamabad, Sep 23: The Human Resource Governance Committee (HRGC) has finished the screening process for the nomination of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ignite National Technology Fund, according to a statement released by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT).
The Ministry states that interviews were held in August 2024 for the shortlisted applicants, and the Board will hear the HRGC’s recommendations at its next meeting. Within the next week, the Board is anticipated to complete the CEO selection process.
Asim Shahryar Husain, the previous CEO of Ignite, completed his fixed-term employment contract on January 17, 2024, leaving the role vacant. The original announcement of the position was made on December 24, 2023, and the application deadline was set for January 8, 2024.
The IT Ministry went on to say that the CEO shortlisting process was overseen by the Board’s Human Resources Committee. The Board chose a candidate in May 2024 following a comprehensive interview procedure; the candidate’s employment record verification was a prerequisite. Nevertheless, the Board chose to re-advertise the position on June 12, 2024, extending the application submission deadline to June 27, 2024, after examining the results of the candidate’s employment verification.
Even with the re-advertisement, the hiring process is still ongoing. According to the Ministry, Adeel Aijaz Shaikh, GM (Corporate Affairs), has been carrying out the additional responsibility of CEO since January 18, 2024. His temporary position will remain in place until a permanent CEO has been chosen.
