In a historic achievement, Hafiz Abdul Rafay Tariq, a student from Delhi Government Boys Secondary School in Karimabad, has topped the 2024 Matric Science annual examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK).

Rafay’s remarkable score of 94.55% (1040/1100) marks the first time since 1996 that a government school student has secured the top position in these exams, breaking a 28-year dominance by private institutions.

His father, Tariq Mehboob, a mathematics teacher at the same school, played a significant role in his success.

The second and third positions were taken by private school students. Rumaissa Imran from Al-Khalil Model School in Malir secured second place with 1,037 marks (94.27%), and Rukhsar from Little Folks School in North Nazimabad came third with 1,025 marks (93.18%).

Out of 163,012 registered candidates, 131,614 students passed, with 23,943 earning A1 grades and 45,357 receiving A grades. Female students also performed notably well, with 63,767 passing and 15,616 securing A1 grades.
