Islamabad, Mar 8, 2025: The Pakistani government has instructed all holders of Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) and other undocumented foreigners residing in the country to depart by March 31, 2025, as part of its ongoing repatriation efforts.

The ACC, issued by Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), provides Afghan nationals with temporary legal status, but its validity remains subject to government policies.

In an official statement released on Friday, the Interior Ministry announced that the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Programme (IFRP) has been in effect since November 1, 2023.

With this latest decision, ACC holders have now been included in the repatriation process. Authorities have urged all affected individuals to leave voluntarily before the deadline.

From April 1, 2025, deportation measures will be enforced against those who remain in the country beyond the stipulated timeframe.

The government has emphasized that ample time has been given to ensure a respectful and orderly return.

To address humanitarian concerns, the Interior Ministry reassured that no individual would face mistreatment during the repatriation process.

Moreover, arrangements for food, medical assistance, and basic necessities have been made for those returning to their home country.

The government also reminded all foreign nationals still residing in Pakistan to adhere to legal procedures and comply with national laws.

Meanwhile, international organizations such as the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) have expressed concerns about Pakistan’s repatriation strategy.

Last month, they sought clarification from authorities regarding the timeline and operational aspects of relocating registered Afghan refugees, particularly in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
