ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 9: The federal government has made the decision to recruit a secretary from the private sector for the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, with a potential salary package of up to Rs. 2 million.

Through a recent announcement, the Establishment Division has invited applicants for the contract post.
With a minimum of 20 years of experience in the IT and telecom sectors, including 12 years in senior management roles, and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline, the ideal applicant should meet the requirements.

With this nomination, the IT and communications ministry will have its first leader from the private sector. Interestingly, the Secretary of Law and Justice is a former private sector employee, which has established a standard for industrial experience in public office.

On July 23, 2024, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood was relieved of his duties as Additional Secretary (charge), leaving the position vacant. After that, Ayesha Humaira was chosen to oversee the ministry’s operations until a long-term replacement was recruited.
