Islamabad, Oct 21: Heartbreak for Pakistan Shaheens as India A Wins by 7 Runs
Pakistan Shaheens suffered a seven-run defeat against India A in a thrilling final over согamƈe in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 in Oman on Saturday.
The Shaheens made 176 runs and lost seven wickets getting the target of 184 runs to chase.
Before this, India A Wins toss then decided to bat. The side then went on to finish its innings at 183/8 in 20 overs at a healthy strike rate.
In response, Pakistan got their chase underway and lost a major early blow in their innings when captain Muhammad Haris was clean bowled off the second ball of the powerplay, having hit a six.
His replacement Omair Yousuf also topped a small cameo performance of two runs on seven balls.
The pitch was then taken by Yasir Khan who made 33 off 22 balls inclusive of one four and three sixes then Qasim Akram who scored 27 runs off 21 balls, four boundaries.
As the Indian bowlers went on the rampage Pakistan were four down in 10 overs including their captain. Pakistan first crossed the hundred-mark in the 13th over with Arafat Minhas and Haider Ali on the field.
After getting Haider dismissed, Minhas got company from Abdul Samad, who made 25 runs off 15 balls.
They were the only hope pundit for Pakistan to defeat archrivals and after this no more chances were left as India have won over Pakistan by seven runs.
First innings saw Pakistan bowlers maintaining pressure, but Indian batsmen went on with the scoring rate even they got out.
Collectively, their top four batsmen did well to come up with a competitive score with Abhishek Sharma putting 35 off 22 balls, Prabhsimran Singh 36 off 19 balls, Tilak Varma, the skipper, scoring 44 off 35 balls and finally Nehal Wadhera, scoring 25 off 25 balls.
Anything that came from the Indian side slowed down but for Haris and Co they were already reaping where they had sown by taking wickets. India got all out at 183/8 and a splendid run rate of 9.15 when they declared their innings closed.
Opener Muhammad Kashif played a cracker of knock ‘58 off 34 balls inclusive two sixes and four boundaries’, for Sufiyan Muqeem’s two wickets and resting Mohammad Imran, Zaman Khan, Minhas and Akram: one wicket each.
