Islamabad, Apr 14, 2025: As heatwave conditions escalate across the nation, the Meteorological Department has predicted that several regions of Sindh will experience temperatures surpassing 40°C, with southern Punjab districts also reaching 40°C.

The mercury is expected to rise to a scorching 46°C in Dadu, 45°C in Nawabshah, and 43°C in Sukkur and Hyderabad today, according to the Met Office.

Karachi is also set to endure hot and humid weather, with the maximum temperature anticipated to hit 36°C.

The weather service forecasts temperatures of 40°C in D.G. Khan, Multan, and Sargodha, with Lahore bracing for 37°C heat.

The Met Office has issued a weather alert predicting widespread heatwave conditions across the country, with the most intense heat affecting the southern regions starting Monday (today).

A high-pressure system is expected to dominate the upper atmosphere from April 13, contributing to the formation of heatwave conditions across various parts of the nation, as per the Met Office report.

Daytime temperatures are forecast to stay 6 to 8°C above normal in southern regions, including Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan, from April 13 to 18, with temperatures potentially reaching a staggering 46-48°C in Sindh.

In central and northern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, day temperatures are likely to be 4 to 6°C above average from April 14 to 18.

Nights during this period are also expected to be warmer than usual, according to the latest weather predictions.

The combination of excessive heat and rising temperatures may trigger dust storms and windstorms in the coming days.

Authorities have urged the public, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly, to take necessary precautions.

It is advised to avoid direct exposure to sunlight and ensure proper hydration during the day.
