A comprehensive forecast by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) indicates monsoon rains would fall in the majority of Punjabi districts through July 7.In various districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Shakargarh, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin, the PDMA has warned of the possibility of heavy rains. Strong winds and thunderstorms are also predicted to impact the areas of Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Rawalpindi.
The water flow of Punjab’s main rivers, the Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej, is now believed to be normal despite the approaching severe rains. On the other hand, with moderate to high flooding predicted, the PDMA has issued a flood warning for the Chenab River near Marala. Residents and local authorities are urged to exercise increased caution in light of this advisory.
Irfan Ali Kathia, the director general of the PDMA, has asked all pertinent agencies to maintain a state of high vigilance during this time. “To prevent any mishaps, we advise all citizens to avoid crossing rivers and streams unnecessarily during the monsoon rains,” Kathia said.
Local governments and disaster management teams have been activated in response to the weather forecast in order to guarantee prompt action in the event of an emergency.
