Islamabad, August 28: KARACHI: As the deep depression from Gujarat, India, moved into Sindh Friday night, several parts of the city experienced mild to heavy rainfall with sporadic pauses. Wetness was experienced in the following areas of the city: Gulshan Iqbal, Site Area, Liaquatabad, Azizabad, Shara-e-Faisal, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-8, Razzaq Abad, Steel Town, Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Model Colony, Airport and surrounding areas.
Rainwater seeped into several of Gulshan Hadeed’s housing complexes.
The Met Office has forecasted significant rainfall and robust monsoon winds as a result of this weather system. The weather report stated that “winds could blow in Karachi with 28 to 33 nautical miles speed.”
The Met Office stated that “the rain spell could continue until August 31 and the city is likely to receive 150mm to 200mm of rain.”
Sindh is seeing significant rainfall due to a system of strong monsoon winds, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz stated on Tuesday.
A meteorological official stated, “This system will dump 300 to 400mm of rainfall in Thatta and Badin districts.” A meteorological official stated, “150mm to 200mm of rain is expected in Karachi.”
He said that strong rains are predicted for Karachi and neighboring Sindhi districts between August 28 and 30, with occasional respite.
“The rain will start in the afternoon and last until August 30,” he declared, predicting urban flooding in the city.
During a rain emergency meeting in Karachi on Monday, the chief minister of Sindh was informed about the storm system that was bringing severe rain to the province.
The session was addressed by Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz about the weather system that will bring severe rains to Karachi from August 27 to August 31.
“The first week of September is expected to bring another monsoon system,” he added.
Salman Shah, the DG of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), forecasted “very heavy rainfall” for August 28.
A disaster management official stated, “It could cause flooding situations in Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, and Jamshoro.”
All divisional commissioners were instructed by Chief Minister Shah to make plans for handling the crisis.
According to the Met Office, the depression is causing powerful monsoon currents to spread throughout the nation, particularly in the southern regions.
From August 27 to August 31, widespread rain is predicted in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other Sindhi districts, along with sporadic severe and isolated very heavyfalls.
