Islamabad, Aug 20: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has extended an invitation to apply to Gilgit-Baltistan students wishing to enroll in undergraduate programs (4–5 years) at public universities and degree-awarding institutions that have received HEC recognition.

The project named “Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for the students of Gilgit-Baltistan in top Pakistani Universities/ Institutions (Batch-IV)” is offering these scholarships for the academic year 2024–25 in all fields of study and disciplines, according to government sources.

The applicants must possess a Gilgit-Baltistan domicile/local certificate in accordance with the eligibility requirements. But, the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or its equivalent must have been earned by him or her. Moreover, applicants are ineligible to apply if they are currently receiving another scholarship.

The maximum age limit is 22 years old as of the application deadline. The candidates must also meet the requirements for the scholarship, which include paying books and travel expenses totaling Rs. 30,000 annually, as well as paying tuition, hostel fees, and other charges up to a maximum of Rs. 240,000 per year.

It is crucial to note that the candidates will be narrowed down to a short list based on their academic records and results from the aptitude test, which will be administered by the Education Testing Council (ETC), HEC.In the ETC test, candidates must receive at least 50% of the possible points. The validity of the test result will last for a year following the date of announcement.

Prior to the advertisement, the students were already enrolled in any BS program at public universities or institutions. (up to one academic year) might also be relevant. Scholarships shall be awarded only on the basis of merit, without regard to a candidate’s gender, caste, color, or religion.

The candidates may submit an application to any Public Sector University or Institution in Pakistan; however, they are responsible for covering any additional costs above those specified in Project PC-I.

HEC retains the right, at any time and for any cause, to halt or terminate the scholarship program. Students can get more information and instructions by visiting www.hec.gov.pk/site/gb.scholarship. The applicants must use https://eportal.hec.gov.pk to submit their online applications. September 30, 2024, is the deadline for application submissions.

It is expected of the applicants to apply well in advance of the closing date in order to receive support in the event of a problem, and they are encouraged to often check the HEC website and their emails for changes.
