Islamabad, Sep 30: Huawei Next-Gen AI Chip Set to Challenge Nvidia GPUs in Performance and Innovation. According to the South China Morning Post, prominent domestic AI companies, many of whom also depend on Nvidia’s products, have been offered samples of Huawei’s new Ascend 910C AI CPUs.

Although there aren’t many specifications available, the Ascend 910C is anticipated to be a significant improvement over its predecessor and may have processing capability closer to that of the Nvidia H100 Huawei Next-Gen AI chip.

This announcement comes at a time when Nvidia may be subject to additional trade restrictions from the US, which have long hampered its ability to do business with China. The GPU manufacturer is unable to sell H20 AI accelerators made especially for the Chinese market due to the most recent trade prohibition on Nvidia.

If this occurs, Chinese IT companies who are already irritated by the uncertainty surrounding their ability to purchase foreign AI equipment may find Huawei’s Ascend 910C to be a more alluring option.

China’s AI hardware market is in a precarious position as Huawei’s Ascend 910C has the capacity to challenge Nvidia’s hegemony. Some Chinese IT companies had concerns about Huawei’s restricted production capacity during the high demand for the prior Ascend 910B, which finally led them to return to Nvidia.

Huawei Next-Gen AI Chip Set has the potential to drastically alter the competitive environment if it can resolve these production issues and guarantee a steady supply of its Ascend 910C CPUs. A strong indigenous substitute plus the continuous ambiguity surrounding NVIDIA’s entry into the Chinese market may make Huawei’s products an appealing option for businesses to consider.
