Islamabad, Nov 23: Hyundai and Kia Recall Thousands of Ioniq and EV6 Models Over Critical Issue.  Over 208,000 electric cars are being recalled by Hyundai and Kia because of a defect that could result in power outages, raising the possibility of collisions.

Over 145,000 Hyundai and Genesis automobiles, including the 2022–2024 Ioniq 5, 2023–2025 Ioniq 6, GV60, GV70, and 2023–2024 G80, are impacted by the recall. Included are over 63,000 Kia EV6 cars from 2022–2024.

34,529 Hyundai automobiles built between March and November of this year are included in the Canadian recall. Kia has not revealed the number of cars in Canada that are impacted by this problem.

According to government records, the automakers stated that a malfunctioning transistor in the charging control unit might prevent the 12-volt battery from charging, resulting in a loss of motor power.

Dealers will examine malfunctioning control units and, if required, replace fuses. The software will also be updated by them. Owners will need to go back to their dealer if their car was recalled earlier this year due to the same problem.

Notification letters with repair scheduling information will be sent to vehicle owners in December and January.
