Islamabad, Nov 17: Hyundai Appoints New CEO to Drive Global Electric Vehicle Sales. Hyundai has announced Jose Muñoz as its new global CEO, effective 1 January. Jaehoon Chang, who was elevated to the position of vice chair of Hyundai’s automotive division, will be replaced by him.

Muñoz, who was born in Spain, will be Hyundai’s first non-Korean CEO since the company’s inception in 1967. He has held significant positions since joining Hyundai in 2019, including global chief operating officer and CEO of Hyundai and Genesis in the US.

Muñoz’s responsibilities were expanded to cover Europe, India, the Middle East, and Africa when he joined Hyundai’s board of directors in 2022. Sales, market share, and profitability have all increased under his leadership, especially in North America.

During his fifteen years at Nissan, Muñoz set sales records and significantly increased profits. Hyundai claims that he plays a key role in advancing its sales system, which is centered on profitability.

Muñoz will be in charge of Hyundai’s ambitious worldwide electrification plan in his capacity as CEO. By 2030, this entails introducing more than 20 electric cars, beginning with the flagship Ioniq 9. Along with maintaining Hyundai’s investment in fuel cell cars for commercial, industrial, and passenger use, he will give priority to hydrogen propulsion. The business intends to launch a new Nexo model that draws inspiration from the Initium idea.

“It is an honor to serve Hyundai and continue its growth,” Muñoz said, expressing gratitude for the trust that has been placed in him. Excellence in design, manufacture, sales, and service are all necessary for success. He underlined his dedication to going above and above for clients.
