Islamabad, Aug 28: Starting with the upcoming academic year, the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) declared on Tuesday that the passing score for pupils will increase from 33 to 40.
IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah disclosed at a news conference that as part of a larger educational reform program, pupils will receive grace marks on exams.
He clarified that following an assessment of several options by a subcommittee at the Karachi Secondary Education Board, it was agreed that pupils must now have at least seven passing grades across all educational boards in the nation.
He declared, “The passing score for the upcoming academic year will be raised from 33 to 40.” The commission has also chosen to switch from an open-choice exam structure to a closed-choice exam format, which will provide pupils all options on the test.
