Islamabad, Sep 3: The dates for the 2025 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship final, which will take place at Lord’s in London, have been formally announced.
June 11–15 is when the historic one-off Test match is slated to take place; June 16 is set aside as a backup date in case of inclement weather.
The World Test Championship final will be staged at the storied Lord’s Ground for the first time ever. The previous two finals were held at Southampton (2021) and The Oval (2023), which Australia and New Zealand won, respectively.
The top two teams from the current World Test Championship rankings will play each other in the match following a two-year calendar cycle, which runs from 2023 to 2025.
Australia is not far behind India, who is currently leading the table under Rohit Sharma’s direction. Though New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh are all fighting for a coveted position in the final, the battle is still tight.
The CEO of the ICC, Geoff Allardice, emphasized the World Test Championship’s increasing importance in the world cricket calendar.
In the cricketing world, one of the most eagerly awaited events is the ICC World Test Championship Final. We anticipate a strong demand for tickets, so I urge fans to express interest as soon as possible to guarantee their spot at the Ultimate Test,” said Allardice.
