The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
In the first semi-final, South Africa will meet Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad on Wednesday, June 26. Richard Illingworth and Nitin Menon will officiate as the on-field umpires, with Richard Kettleborough serving as the TV umpire and Ahsan Raza as the fourth umpire.
This match marks Afghanistan’s debut appearance in a T20 World Cup semi-final, while South Africa is making their third semi-final appearance, having previously reached this stage in 2009 and 2014, losing to Pakistan and India, respectively. Both teams are aiming to secure their first-ever berth in a T20 World Cup final.
The second semi-final, scheduled for June 27, promises a highly anticipated showdown between two former champions, India and England. The clash will take place at Providence Stadium in Guyana, with Chris Gaffaney and Rodney Tucker appointed as the on-field umpires.
Joel Wilson will oversee proceedings as the TV umpire, supported by Paul Reiffel as the fourth umpire. This semi-final revisits their memorable encounter in the 2022 T20 World Cup, where England, led by Jos Buttler, emerged victorious over India.
