Islamabad, Nov 12: IHC Expresses Frustration Over CDA’s Delayed Compensation Payments for Land Acquisitions. On Thursday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) scrutinized the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for its failure to provide compensation to individuals whose land had been acquired for development purposes.

“Land that has belonged to their ancestors has been forcibly taken from these individuals, and they continue to be sent on a wild goose chase for their compensation,” commented Chief Justice Athar Minallah. “Everyone should feel embarrassed. This situation reflects how poorly this country is being governed.”

While addressing a petition regarding compensation payments following land acquisition, the judge noted that “elites” were governing Islamabad while the less fortunate were not receiving money for their own properties.

“The CDA should be utterly ashamed,” stated Justice Minallah. He acknowledged the prime minister’s claim that there exist two distinct Pakistans – one for the affluent and influential, and another for the impoverished. “If compensation has not been distributed, then the sole conclusion this court can reach is that the country’s governance is not in accordance with the law,” remarked the IHC chief justice.

Nevertheless, he cautioned the petitioner’s attorney that their application would be rejected, and a fine imposed for any inaccuracies in their statements.
