Islamabad, Sep 10: Pakistan’s next International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme would be the final one, according to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
“Will this be the final program the IMF programme offers? Speaking to the Senate on Monday, he stated, “It would be the last one when we bring structural reforms. if we bring the structural reforms, it would be the IMF’s last program.” “It would be the last IMF program if we are successful in privatizing the state-owned entities,” the minister continued.
The public’s trust is restored, the nation cannot advance and that in order to address the economic problems, the government must exercise fiscal restraint and reduce spending.
“We cannot move ahead—unless the public’s confidence is restored,” the minister said.
The private sector, he said, needs to take the lead to steer the country out of the crises.
“It’s not the government’s job to do the business—now private sector will lead the country,” he said.
