Islamabad, Oct 18: Senator Rubina Khalid who is the Chairperson for the Benazir Income Support Programmed or BISP has said that the Benazir Kafalat Program for the improved quarterly amount of up to Rs. 13,500 for the program beneficiaries has to be reached by the year 2025.
This amount will be raised from Rs: 10,500 to Rs: 13,500 by the year 2025 she said while visiting Benazir Nashonuma Center at Sindh Government Hospital PIB Colony Karachi.
In his meeting with the writers of the news release, the chairperson toured the facilities and conversed with the program beneficiary women to confirm their satisfaction with the number and Benazir Kafalat Program types of services available.
Interviewing media persons in the hospital, Senator Rubina Khalid appreciated Sindh Health department especially for the availability of Basic Health Facilities and equipment’s for this project.
She explained that child stunting is one of the challenges addressing which BISP offers cash and nutrition to mothers with children of up to two years. She further said that currently 9.3 million families are registered with the BISP and by 2025 it will increase to ten million families.
The chairperson dismissing the claim that BISP fosters dependency said it is a futuristic approach of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardariand has drawn global acknowledgment due to it.
The program seeks to eliminate poverty, emancipate women, and equalize earnings disparities. She also said that in order to ascertain that its effectiveness is achieved, an annual third-party survey and monitoring are conducted. On the issue of the agent mafia and the relatively few banks dealing with cash transfers, Senator Rubina Khalid said that BISP is in talks with the State Bank of Pakistan on how to disburse money to beneficiaries.
