In the latest ICC Men’s T20I rankings update, several changes have occurred following the T20 World Cup 2024 performances:
Both players from Pakistan have dropped one spot each in the rankings. Babar Azam is now ranked fourth, and Mohammad Rizwan is ranked fifth among T20I batters.
The Indian batsman, who had been the number one ranked T20I batsman since December 2023, has now lost the top spot. He has been overtaken by Australian opener Travis Head, who climbed four places in the rankings due to his performances in the T20 World Cup 2024.
He is now the number one T20I batsman according to the latest ICC rankings. Head’s rise is attributed to his impressive performance in the T20 World Cup, where he scored 255 runs in seven innings at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 158.38, making him one of the top scorers in the tournament.
The English batsman has moved down one rank to the third position in the T20I rankings.
Johnson Charles of West Indies has moved up four places to the 10th position, while Afghanistan’s Rehmanullah Garbaz has moved up five ranks to the 11th position in the rankings.
Jonny Bairstow (England) climbed 14 places to 13th position, and Quinton de Kock (South Africa) moved up 10 places to the 15th position in the T20I rankings.
Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga reclaimed the top spot in the T20 all-rounders rankings, displacing Australia’s Marcus Stoins to the fourth position. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi is now second, having moved up two ranks, and India’s Hardik Pandya climbed four ranks to third position, just ahead of Marcus Stoins who is now fourth. Pakistan’s Imad Wasim is ranked 11th in the all-rounders rankings.
These changes reflect the dynamic nature of rankings in cricket, influenced heavily by players’ performances in major tournaments like the T20 World Cup.
