Islamabad, Aug 25: At the Iranian Consulate on Sunday, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, the Punjab Minister for Industry and Commerce, had a meeting with Mehran Mowahidfar, the Iranian Consul General, and a significant number of Iranian investors.

Babak Afghani, CEO of Taman Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Company, led the delegation. Opportunities to enhance bilateral economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting. Speaking to the group, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, expressed his enthusiasm for Iranian investment in several sectors, including the tire industry and LPG. He also assured them that the government would offer all necessary assistance. He promised to speak with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over the RD tax. He underlined the need of increasing bilateral trade, pointing out the advantages for both nations.

In addition, he called on Pakistan and Iran to further economic cooperation and emphasized the significance of fostering more interpersonal relationships to improve commercial cooperation. The minister further mentioned that he was still very much in the mood of his journey to Iran with former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

Speaking on this occasion, the Iranian Council General stated that although trade contacts between Iran and Pakistan are established and the two countries are brotherly Islamic nations with established historical and cultural ties, practical measures are required to foster these relationships.

He vowed to work with Punjab more closely in all areas, including industry, agriculture, and energy. The provincial minister was questioned by the general consul of Iran over the health of former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was honored to be hosted by the Iranian Consulate.

The delegation’s leader, Babak Afghani, stated that while the 93 member companies produce a range of goods and wish to expand their economic ties with Punjab and Pakistan, the tax stands in the way of these efforts. According to him, improved economic ties with neighbors make for excellent politics, and Pakistan and Iran must step up to meet one another’s demands. According to him, there is a lot of room for collaboration in this industry because Pakistani textile items are highly sought-after in Iran. The Punjab Investment Board officers attended the meeting as well.
