Islamabad, Nov 27: Instagram Enhances DMs: New Location Sharing, Stickers, and Features Rolled Out. Among other improvements, Instagram is launching a new feature that allows users to send direct messages (DMs) to friends and family with their current location.
Users can share their position in real time for up to an hour with this service, which is presently only available in a few countries. To aid in planning, users can also pin a particular spot on a map, like a restaurant or meeting spot.
This is how it seems
It’s crucial to remember that live location sharing is completely private and only accessible by those in the designated direct message (DM), regardless of whether it’s a group or one-on-one conversation. Users have complete flexibility over when and with whom they share their location, and the option is turned off by default.
Instagram has put in place several safeguards to protect user security and privacy. To inform users that they are sharing their real-time location, a prominent notice will show at the top of the chat window. Regardless of the one-hour time limit, users have the option to discontinue broadcasting their location at any moment.
New decals and a name change
To liven up your direct messages, Instagram is also launching 17 new sticker packs with more than 300 brand-new stickers. Since Meta understands that sometimes words can’t adequately convey feelings and concepts, these new stickers are made to do so. You may now effortlessly reuse stickers from your chats by making them your favorites.
Instagram users can alter chat names to further customize their direct message experience. You can give yourself and your friends nicknames, which adds fun and unique touches to chats. These monikers are only used in direct messages and have no bearing on your public username.
Your nickname is entirely up to you. You can choose who can make changes within a certain chat and alter it whenever you’d like. You have the option to keep your nickname private, but by default, anyone you follow can change it.
