Islamabad, Sep 19: Instagram Introduces Teen Accounts and New Features to Enhance Child Safety Online. This move aims to enhance safety for teens amidst growing concerns over social media’s impact on young people.

New users under 18 will automatically be assigned to teen accounts, while existing users will be migrated within 60 days. The European Union will see similar changes later this year.

To address concerns of age falsification, Meta will require more age verifications and use technology to detect accounts where teens may pretend to be adults.

These restricted Instagram teen accounts will be private by default, limit direct messages to only those the user follows, and restrict access to sensitive content like violent videos or cosmetic procedure promotions.

Instagram Introduces Teen Accounts and in the future Instagram will also introduce features like notifications for excessive use after 60 minutes and a “sleep mode” that restricts notifications and auto-replies to direct messages from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
