Islamabad, 22 Apr 2025: Intermediate exams in both Balochistan and Karachi have been postponed due to a combination of logistical setbacks and unresolved administrative issues, causing widespread concern among students and educators.

In Balochistan, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) announced the delay just a day before exams were due to start, attributing the postponement to unavoidable circumstances.

While the official statement remained vague, local media sources indicated that the disruption stemmed from an ongoing teachers’ boycott, which reportedly left the board unable to complete exam preparations.

Officials have not provided a revised timeline, and the examinations will remain on hold until further notice.

The teachers’ strike, believed to be over pending demands and grievances, has left the board struggling to allocate staff for exam duties, with no immediate solution in sight.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the Board of Intermediate Education has also rescheduled its examinations, now set to begin after May 6, 2025.

This decision follows delays linked to overlapping matriculation exams, which are occupying key examination halls until May 2. Additionally, the absence of the board chairman has reportedly contributed to the postponement.

According to board insiders, nearly 300 examination centres have yet to receive final approval, while over 27,000 student forms remain under review.

Administrative delays have also affected the processing of extra marks and the completion of tabulation work, further compounding the disruption.

The situation has left students across both provinces in a state of confusion and anxiety.
